After absorbing the sun and sand and seawater during your Outer Banks beach vacation, don’t you think you need some time to relax and treat yourself to a luxurious day of beauty and health? The Currituck Outer Banks may be small in scale with certain parts isolated from the main tourist areas, but by no means is the northern neck of the Outer Banks behind the times. Especially when it comes to relaxation and rejuvenation of the body, mind, and spirit, you can find an oasis in the activity of a family vacation and let your cares float away in the ocean when you take advantage of a spa day.
Never been to a day spa before? Oh, what you have been missing! Especially in the Outer Banks, where one can already find a calming influence in gentle sea breezes, a trip to a day spa only enhances the quality of your vacation, so much that you’ll wonder why you never indulged before. One trip, too, and you’ll never want to leave.
When looking for a day spa in the Outer Banks, it is best to know what to expect before you visit. During the peak tourist seasons, there is the great possibility that spas and salons will be booked, so it is strongly recommended to call ahead and make a reservation for your day. Not all spas offer the same service packages, either. Some may require you to request services “a la carte,” while others offer a variety of combination packages for you to relish. Just some of the wonderful and relaxing activities you might enjoy on a spa day include:
Manicure and Pedicure: specialized attention to your hard-working hands and feet. Manicures and pedicures are more than just filing and polish, but a relaxing process designed to refresh.
Stone Massage: using hot rocks on various parts of the body, the heat helps soothe sore muscles and promote energy. Of course, some spas do offer the alternative, hands-on method to make you feel good.
Body Wrap: your body is swathed in heated linens or plastic, aiding in a total skin makeover to leave you fresh and feeling younger.
Paraffin Treatment: this gentle type of wax is applied to the skin for an emollient effect, moisturizing and rejuvenating hands and feet. Some spas, too, may offer additional wax treatments to shape eyebrows or get rid of unwanted facial hair.
